This weekend we did it up nice and slow as scheduled. It was the perfect mix of plans and free. Early Saturday evening we took a walk in the cool evening air. We've officially reached sweatshirt weather.

And afterwards I got to get dressed up and go out to celebrate a friend's birthday. Although I had committed to go- and knew I would never flake- all day I felt bad about it. I shouldn't leave...I was sick most of the week....I'm too tired... I should stay home with the kids... And like it always happens- 5 minutes into the evening I think- Thank goodness I came. This is so important to do - not to mention it makes me a better Mother when I refuel. Why do I fight going out when it makes me so happy?
Happy Early Birthday Kasey!
BALANCE... We all need it.
After I got home this afternoon from doing a family photo shoot- I took Greyson on a walk...but for once- I let him pick where we went... He chose a vacant lot right by our house so he could scooch in the dirt. His idea of Heaven...
Back and forth and back and forth and back and forth forever.
If you were like me a few years ago- you thought all you needed to take awesome pictures was a stupidly expensive SLR camera. I remember FINALLY learning how to twist the circle top thingy to find the right do-kickey that allowed me to take pictures on Automatic. So I must admit- the pictures were certainly better than our point and click...but I still was left wanting more...but didn't know what more was.
Now I know I wanted more saturated colors - less shadows and blown out highlights, a tack sharp subject with a beautiful blurry background). But at the time I just knew I wanted more...The manual that comes with the camera is awesome- to keep a lit fire burning... and it's hard to find one easy resource to teach you how to shoot in manual. (And I REFUSED to pay $300 for the classes I saw around town).
That being said- I am excited to be offering my first class on how to shoot in Manual in January of this year! If you reader friend that doesn't live close is also interested in photography- please feel free to ask me any questions. I'm not private about the stuff I've learned or the tools I use. The more people out loving documenting memories- the better.
Hope you have a good Monday.
Cant wait! I would love to take your class :) Pictures tell the greatest stories!
