I think I can

I think I can I think I can I think I can

That was my mantra tonight...

There were no fun-filled baths... No relaxing laughing and cuddling family time... Tonight- I was in survival mode.

I kept them and me alive... Well Done You.

Tonight we ate in courses because we are super fancy like that...

Pistachios on the ottoman while watching TV...cold turkey straight from the package while running around the kitchen island...And finally rice at the dinner table...

And afterwards, I plugged two little bottoms in front of the TV...Please, Nick Jr- do your job. K?

On his commute home this evening, Michael got stuck on the Grapevine...The route from Los Angeles back to the Central Valley of California- aka HOME..They closed it due to snow...and he has to stay out of town one more night... Which is the equivalent of running a marathon and finding out at mile marker number 22- that they added 10 more miles to the run...

Awesome...

And before I had Littles, If you would have told me that two kids were so exhausting...2 kids whose combined weight is a bit over half mine... I would have laughed at you...not even behind your back

Today was a busy day- growing little babies minds... This morning we met with Parker's new Early Intervention Teacher. She will do home visits once a week to work with him on specific Developmental concerns.

And this afternoon, It was Parker's turn for Speech Therapy...

Running out to greet me afterwards

Autism Spectrum Disorders are a Neurological Developmental Disorder... A child presents with developmental delays- mainly in communication and socialization... There are no blood or imaging tests that can diagnose Autism. Every child's delays are different- that's part of what The Spectrum means...Varying behaviors to varying degrees...

Greyson is loving and huggy and laughs and smiles. Not all Spectrum kids are like that. I am grateful.

Greyson's Autism will have things in common with other children with Super Powers- but no two are the same...just like no two Typical children are the same.

While Parker was in speech, I took Greyson outside for a walk...and I let him take me wherever he wanted to go- a first for him. It was so funny to watch his excitement and to see his little independent mind make decisions...

We waited at cross walks, and we looked for signs...

Grey- Orange means STOP... White means GO...

I have to teach him to recognize signs on his own...Instead of just telling him what to do...

We all need to learn to recognize signs on our own too...

Photobucket
Oh, yes...and we jumped... How could I forget the jumping?

He took me to a Thrift shop across the street

And just stood there and stared at some cars they had on the wall...

He's still staring at the cars here...This picture makes me laugh and makes my heart hurt good...

I totally didn't feel like writing tonight... It's not you- it's me...

I didn't have warm or fuzzy thoughts in my brain...

There's gotta be days that Ellen goes into work and  just doesn't feel like dancing- right?
But she dances anyway...because it's her job and she cares about it and she ROCKS at it... And I bet once the music starts she can't help but bust a move anyway...

If you want to be good at something- you gotta do it even if you don't feel like it...and you've got to be willing to do it badly sometimes too... It's what is then able to define the good- as good...

So tonight, I sat down and loaded my pictures onto my computer, I and started to write...and the next thing I knew, I couldn't help but bust a move too...

Keep your eyes on the prize

Today I did my very best...and my very best wasn't really that great today...But I'm OK with that...The point is- I tried my best... Besides-none of that will matter in a week...but discipline and giving it your all- those are lessons that will stick around...

Happy wonderful weekend my Friends...

  2. "no two are the same...just like no two Typical children are the same."

Seriously took words out of my mouth:) I've said this time and again to people. I try not to get bugged with friends, family, or acquaintances who automatically assume Cali doesn't like to cuddle or chooses to line up her toys perfectly instead of playing with them appropriately. Neither of these are true for Cali. She LOVES to cuddle and although in the beginning liked to act out the same play over and over with her dolls (kissing and holding hands...kissing and holding hands...on and on and on!!) she would never line them up perfect straight lines.

They are all different. All different and add significant joy and measure to this world!!!
