sharing happy

The weekend is over. again. {sigh}. A new month is starting too. It really is so fast. So so fast. And moments like these-- it hits me all at once. And since my awareness of how truly fast life goes by is heightened- I find signs of it all over. I will totally be that well-meaning old lady at the grocery store telling the new mom just how dang fast it all goes longingly. She will secretly roll her eyes and want to punch me out.  I hold my breath right now. One one thousand. Two one thousand. That felt like forever. Shew. Okay- good, that reminded me that sometimes life is slow too.

This week let's focus on moments. The slow ones. The good ones. The coasting on easy street ones, with the wind whipping through our hair and our favorite song on. They are going to be there, they always are- so let's pay attention to them. Let's notice them and wrap them around us. It's so easy to be weighed down by the other stuff.

This is your story. Embrace it. Hold it. All of it. Love it for all its pain and joy. The stuff you wish you had but you don't. The stuff you wish you didn't have- but do. It's exactly how it's supposed to be. If the what ifs come true it's because they are meant to happen. And if it happens we will be able to handle them. We've always found a way so far, haven't we?

Scream it from the mountains.- This is my life.

Let's play a happiness game. Everyone wins. I'll start. These things make me happy.

Our neighborhood park showed the movie Frozen at dusk.

We walked there and it felt like sun ripened Summer. I wish you could have heard all the little children belting out the songs from the movie. The sweet little symphony of their voices was perfection that also caused a little ache.

Yes, the actual UNIVERSE sends you an email each day. Here's an example one.

The one thing all famous authors, world-class athletes, business tycoons,
singers, actors, and celebrated achievers in any field have in common, Chrissy,
is that they all began their journeys when they were none of these things.

Yet still, they began their journeys.
You are so poised for greatness,
The Universe

One day, they're going to name something big after you, Chrissy!

Like a statue, a college... or a hurricane.

TUT (Totally Unique Thoughts) believes that everyone is special, that every life is meaningful, and that we're all here to learn that dreams do come true. We also believe that "thoughts become things," and that imagination is the gift that can bring love, health, abundance, and happiness into our lives. They are just so totally right up my alley. Thanks Alyssa for sharing with me!

My friend Kristi hand makes her unique vintage signs and she let me have one to give away on Instagram over the weekend. It was so fun and I wanted to give every single person one. Follow her on Facebook. She does give-aways all the time. And she's awesome. Daily.

I'm so excited to hang these bad boys in our back yard. (I mean I can't wait for Michael to hang them). Twinkle lights and little light bulbs are the greatest decorations in the world. They instantly lower blood pressure and increase happy according to a true fact I just made up to prove my point. Most of life can not be done or undone with one big sweeping thing. You can't flip a switch and turn on a big light for most important things. We just have to turn on one little light bulb at a time. Soon after time they will light the way.

Man, today was TOUGH. Grey was out of control. I look over pictures from our relaxing weekend and all I remember is good though.

And just like that he learned to blow bubbles. Watching it is the greatest thing ever. He makes an Fffffff sound and I bet as much spit as bubbles come out.

Doesn't it officially feel like Summer? They usually don't get dairy, but we cheated. They wore so much more than they ate anyway.

I love that his cone says "Joy" and I didn't even notice until now.

And we hung out and listened to a parking lot band covered in sticky vanilla. There's so much beauty everywhere you look. I love to watch Grey feel live music. It's biblical.

This picture is for you and my Friend Sarah and her hashtag #wheresyourheadstand Feel free to play along. Ours was at River Park farmer's market.

The fact that you are here with me. Reading, caring, loving, life-adventuring- you are awesome. I love your comments and stories and emails. I'm so glad we are friends.

Maybe with our new happy glasses Monday won't be so bad.

Find me on Facebook, friend. Let's share happy.

  1. Love the headstand picture. His little serious face is precious.

    Things that make me happy:

Listening to my favorite radio morning show while I am at work. It's entertaining and often reminds me how less dramatic my life is than others.

My 17 month old's giggle. Seriously one of the best sounds in whole entire world.

Singing as loud as you can at a concert. I really felt like I might lose my voice on Saturday night. If you haven't listened to the band Needtobreathe before, please check them out. A few of the best songs:
    Lay "em Down
    Diference Maker
    The Heart

Okay, they have a lot of good songs.

    Happy Monday!

  2. Chrissy - you share happy with every blog - love, love, love!!! <3

I often find myself wishing the weekend would get hurry up and get her already! But I try to consciously stop doing that because if I'm always wishing the week to go fast, I'm wishing most of my life away. And life is too good and too short to wish away; too good even with not wanting to get up and go to work in the morning, and with my hubby still living in Ohio, and wanting to strangle my 17 year old son. (who is also in Ohio with Dad and is so much like him that they constantly but heads!) So, I tell myself (although I don't always listen) to slow down and enjoy life. To enjoy Monday like I enjoy Saturday. It's still a good day. There are still many many good things that happen on Mondays too. (Like today...we could get an offer on the house.....please!) So, for today....I'm a happy girl! :-) Much love!

  4. Me?! I am so happy to be on your happy list. Well, you said "You" so I assumed you meant me. Yeah, I'm pretty sure this blog is about me.
My happy list goes something like: my boys (hubs & Jr), Mommas who love their littles so big you can feel it through their writing, being on someone's happy list, warm sunny days, family field trips.
That helped to make my Monday brighter. Thanks :)
Love & happiness to you, sweet Momma. xoxoxo Miracle

  5. Thank you Chrissy - I needed this today. I feel a swirl of mixed up emotions inside. So many endings and beginnings this time of year. My youngest has his last day of preschool tomorrow and a graduation ceremony on Friday. When his big brother graduated 4 years ago I was being brave until they played the song, "Let Them Be Little" by Billy Dean. It's a good one. Going to try and hold on to some happy today - you are right - it's all around us. When we stop and pay attention it really does seem to slow down time.
I love the pics - especially Doodle upside down :-)

  6. My daughter has been doing headstands for the last hour in our living room! And along comes Your Little's! Awesome! Gifts from the Universe. For Real =)

  7. I stumbled across your blog through Enjoying the Small Things and love all your photos! Your boys are way too adorable/handsome. Months do seem to fly lately but days are going by slowly for me right now... 24 weeks pregnant and for once I can't wait for the end of the summer to hold my baby.

    1. Lisa from Tennessee/OhioJune 3, 2014 at 11:21 AM

Claire, I hope the summer goes wonderfuly fast for you and that your pregnancy and birth are smooth and you have a healthy baby!

  8. I absolutely love your writing style; it is truly a joy to read. Every time I visit your blog it is like chatting with a friend. Thanks for creating such an awesome little corner of the universe!

  9. I just wanted to say that I love your attitude. And your photography. Your photography is real life which makes it so beautiful. And your attitude toward autism and your sons is awesome too. I have autism and blog about it with the same sort of goal that I think you have. It gives me hope that maybe all the blogs and thoughts and hopes out there will make a difference. Thank you for being you.
